Hydrogen Hubs and Job Creation
Brett Perlman, CEO of the Center for Houston’s Future, said the Houston area’s planned HyVelocity Hub will need thousands of workers — the White House has estimated the creation of 45,000 local jobs — which is just a fraction of the total needed to bolster the country's clean hydrogen production. “HyVelocity is sort of the tip of the iceberg when it comes to workforce development,” Perlman said during a CERAWeek panel. “If you look at that magnitude of [federal] investment, it would imply we need to create more than 3.2 million new jobs, or increase the workforce by 30%.”
